BOHO SUMMER CROCHET CUSHION WORKSHOP COURSE : September

My favourite way to share my love for crochet is by passing on my skills to others.

Don't worry if you've never picked up a crochet hook, everything you need to get started will be taught in this course, consisting of 4 workshops spread over four weeks, and will be accompanied by lots of helpful print outs and videos, a friendly and supportive, private WhatsApp group, PLUS lots of help and support from me, your tutor Nicky!

WHAT YOU'LL DO

This course is a great introduction to crochet and learning to read a written pattern - it is also ideal for a beginner with basic crochet knowledge.

If you’re just getting started in the world of crochet and you’re looking to stitch your first project, this four-week course is your perfect opportunity! You’ll learn how to crochet nine Granny Squares, as well as how to put them together to create a beautiful, crocheted cushion.

You’ll learn how to begin your project with the magic circle and learn stitches such as the slip stitch, single crochet stitch, double crochet stitch and more! I will be on hand to guide you through every step of your crochet project, ensuring your confidence blossoms through the four weeks. You’ll be taught each stage within the scheduled workshop time, but you’ll need to continue to create and finish each stage between workshops using the skills you’ve learned.

This is a great way to get your practice in!

COURSE OVERVIEW

Here is the outline of each weekly session with what you will make and learn:

WEEK 1: WEDNESDAY 4TH SEPTEMBER

Nicky will teach you how to master your hook and tension to create the classic “BOHO Summer Granny Square.” Starting with a magic ring, you’ll learn how to begin your project and crochet the magic circle (also called the magic ring, or magic loop). You will then be shown how to ‘work in the round’, how to join different coloured yarns and how to work each round in different colours.

YOU WILL LEARN: 

1: To master your hook and tension.

2: The Magic Circle

3: Chain and Triple Crochet Stitch

(Please, don't worry if you don’t complete every stage during the allocated workshop time as each week is accompanied by lots of helpful print outs, videos, a friendly & supportive Facebook Group PLUS lots of remote support from your tutor Nicky!)

*Your homework will then be to get your practice in and make eight more before we meet the following week!

WEEK 2: WEDNESDAY 11TH SEPTEMBER

This week we will focus on how to join your 9x squares to make one large square and create a border.

YOU WILL LEARN: 

1: Ladder Stitch

2: Single Crocet Stitch.

3: How to build your cushion front using all the squares you’ve made, joining each one together to complete the front side of your BOHO Summer Square cushion.

4: You will be shown how to add a border to your 9x squares. 

(Again… Please, don't worry if you don’t complete every stage during the allocated workshop time as each week is accompanied by lots of helpful print outs, videos, a friendly & supportive Facebook Group PLUS lots of remote support from your tutor Nicky!)

*Your homework will then be to get your practice join all 9 squares and create a border before we meet the following week!

WEEK 3: WEDNESDAY 18TH SPETEMBER  This week we will focus on how to weave in your ends and how to prepare your fabric cushion back.

YOU WILL LEARN: 

1. How to tidy and trim your work.

2. The chain stitch.

3. How to prepare your cushion back ready to attach.

*Your homework will then be to finish joining all your squares together, weave in all your ends and have your cushion back prepared and ready to join for the next workshop.

WEEK 4: WEDNESDAY 25TH SEPTEMBER

This final week we will focus on finishing your 9x crocheted BOHO Summer Granny Square cushion.

YOU WILL LEARN:

1. How to successfully join and finish your crochet BOHO Summer Granny Square cushion.

2. How to care for your finished crochet BOHO Summer Granny Square cushion.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

No prior experience needed. Beginner friendly.  Also ideal for a beginner with basic crochet knowledge.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

• All materials and equipment for the 4x week course.

• A crochet hook and yarn to keep.

• A free digital pattern to continue after the workshop sent via email.

• Unlimited pots of tea and coffee and a BIG slice of Nicky’s delicious homemade cake at each workshop.

(Yes! you can even BYOB if you like... I'll provide the glasses)

•At the end of the course, your very own beautiful crocheted BOHO Summer Cushion using ALL the techniques you have learned to enjoy at home and show off to your friends and family.
